Introduction

The Department of Computer Science is the first newly established department of UET Mardan. It provides excellent classroom and lab facilities to students and aims at equipping the students with the knowledge and skills needed for solving the challenges of modern age by exploiting the enormous possibilities offered by computers and related technologies.

The discipline of Computer Science involves understanding of computers and computational processes. It is concerned with the study of information storage, its transfer and transformation. Particular interest is placed on developing effective ways to solve computing problems. The discipline ranges from theoretical studies of algorithms to practical problems of implementation in terms of computational hardware and software.

Department Mission

The mission of the Computer Science program is to produce professionally sound graduates, by imparting them quality education and skills in the field of Computing, who can solve contemporary, multidisciplinary and emerging problems to serve the needs of academia, industry and community thereby playing a vital role in the socio-economic development.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC)/DAE/A-level/12 years of school with Pre-Engineering/General Science/Computer Science or equivalent qualification, certified by IBCC.
  • At least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC)/A-level/12 years of school with Pre-Medical or equivalent qualification, certified by IBCC.

MS Computer Science

MS Computer Science is a two-year program, designed to produce high quality professionals and researchers in the field of computing. The program is a combination of computing knowledge and research. The curriculum of the program is designed as per HEC guidelines, which strengthens the students' understanding as well as competence in computing knowledge and problem-solving skills via core courses, specialization courses and research component.

Program Mission

The mission of the MS Computer Science program is to instill knowledge and research capabilities in graduates and prepare them for careers in industry, academia, and research organizations.

Minimum: 2 years (4 semesters)

Maximum: 4 years (8 semesters)

Credit Load

Coursework Option: 30 CH

Research Work Option: 24 CH
